Ryan Sinclair, Varsity Alpine Ski; Molly Mead, Girls' JV Ice Hockey

In Wednesday’s ski race Ryan Sinclair defeated over 30 ski racers to win the overall competition. Not only did he have the best overall run of the day with a time of 38.96 seconds, but at the end of the day, his combined time was five seconds ahead of the second place finisher. In alpine ski racing, this is a major accomplishment! But Ryan also does much more than just win races! His work effort, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence on a daily basis make him a most positive role model and great example for his teammates to follow.

A historic moment unfolded this past Wednesday when our Girls’ JV Hockey team took to the ice against Vermont Academy, playing in what I believe to be the first ever JV girls’ ice hockey contest in the history of our school. I am particularly proud of this program as it represents a grass roots effort on the part of a group of students and a coach who have worked together and expended a great deal of positive energy to make this happen. Rising at 5:30 am for 6:00 am practices, operating out of a storage room as a make shift locker room, this team exemplifies what can happen at our school with effort and sincerity. Molly Mead was particularly instrumental in its evolution, has continued to work hard in every practice. Against Vermont Academy last Wednesday, she was a tenacious defender and a significant offensive threat, representing our girls’ JV Ice Hockey team with great pride.
