The Dartmouth College Book Prize: Will Sheehan '13
Given by the Dartmouth College Alumni Association to a junior according to the following general criteria: a strong candidate for entrance to a college of academic excellence, a person of strong moral character who has made a positive contribution to the community life who has excelled in at least one non-academic area.
The Harvard Book Prize: Sarah Porter '13
The Harvard Book Prize is awarded annually in memory of Dr. Lyman G. Richards, Harvard College, Class of 1919, a lifelong and steadfast supporter of Kimball Union, is sponsored through the Harvard Club of Boston by the generosity of Dr. Richard’s son, Mr. Bob Richards, Kimball Union class of 1945 and Harvard College, Class of 1949 whose endowment supports the annual presentation of the Harvard Prize Book. The Harvard Prize Book is a compilation of essays by distinguished Harvard Alumni in her traditional crimson binding. The Harvard Prize Book is presented, by vote of the faculty, to one member of the Junior Class whose personal citizenship and accomplishment, best displays the admirable qualities of scholastic achievement, athletic or artistic endeavor and humanitarian leadership.
The Rensselaer Medal: Lindsay Ling
The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, one of the world’s finest technological universities, is proud to recognize the achievements of the strongest science and mathematics student in the junior class. A minimum $25,000 scholarship is awarded to this student should the recipient pursue studies in architecture, engineering, management, science, or the humanities at Rensselaer.
Boston College Book Prize: Debbie Burdinski
Given by the Boston College Alumni Association and awarded by the faculty to a student who ranks in the top of the junior class in a college preparatory program and best exemplifies the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and achievement.

On Saturday, May 26 the following graduates were recognized with awards during the Commencement ceremony:
Henry Mann Silver Awards - 1867
Henry Mann Silver, graduate of the Class of 1867 and donor of the Silver Gymnasium established a prize to be awarded at Commencement to those students who best exemplify the ideal of sound mind and sound body. This year four seniors received this Award. They are: Max Abendroth, Abby Hybl, Lauren Sanderson, Kiri Staiger
The Class of 1895 Award
The Class of 1895, the 77th graduating class, instituted an award to be given to a member of the senior class for the attainment of high scholastic merit together with high conduct of citizenship. The 2011 recipient is Cheyenne Carnarozzo.
The Royal Burnham Townsend Class of 1911 Award
Mr. and Mrs. Townsend gave this award in memory of their son who died while a student at the Academy in 1911. A memorial window in the Pope Chapel with the inscription "Remember the Lilies of the Field" also commemorates this young man. The Townsend prize is awarded each year to a senior who is most deserving because of “courtesy of conduct and cleanliness of life.”
This year's recipient is Whitney Paine.
The Porter Award - Established in 1966
The Porter Award, given to members of the senior class who, after the fashion of Mr. and Mrs. Porter, long-standing members of the faculty who served from 1935 - 1965, have unselfishly given time and effort to the benefit of Kimball Union Academy. This year's recipient of the Porter Award, by vote of the faculty, is Aaron Mitchell.
The Mikula Award – 1987 –
Given in honor of the sixteenth headmaster, Thomas Mikula, who served the Academy from 1974 – 1989, The Mikula Award was established in 1987 by Allan F. Munro, Class of 1955, former Chairman of the Board, and Trustee Emeritus in honor of Mr. Mikula. Among his many contributions to the Academy, Mr. Mikula was instrumental in bringing talented and deserving students from diverse backgrounds to the Academy. The Class of 1920 Award
The Class of 1920 Award is given annually by vote of the graduating class. The Class of 1920 Award is awarded by the class to one classmate, their own, who, in the opinion of his or her classmates represents our shared Kimball Union values and who personifies how they would like their class to be remembered. Awarded by his classmates, and supported wholeheartedly by the faculty, The Class of 2012 has selected for the Class of 1920 Award:Tim McNair
The Charles Alden Tracy Award - Established in 1990
The Charles Alden Tracy Award is given in honor of the twelfth headmaster Charles Alden Tracy who served as Headmaster from 1905 - 1935. It is the Academy's longest standing Headmaster Award and is given by vote of the faculty, to the graduating senior whose character, scholarship, and citizenship best represent the ideals of the Academy. By vote of the faculty, the recipient of the Charles Alden Tracy Award is: Christy Maerlender.
