Charles M. Sennott is Keynote Speaker for Global Fair

Kimball Union’s 2016 Global Fair, a biennial event dedicated to global citizenship, kicks off on April 27 with a keynote speech from The Ground Truth Project founder and executive director, Charles M. Sennott.

Mr. Sennott will reflect on this year’s theme: Commitment to Global Citizenship: Your Voice Can Change the World. As an award-winning foreign correspondent, author, and editor with 30 years of experience in journalism, Mr. Sennott has spent much of his career reporting on the front lines of wars and insurgencies in at least 15 countries. He was one of the first journalists on the ground in Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks, and has continued reporting there for the last decade.  Mr. Sennott created GroundTruth as a hybrid journalism and education non-profit that focuses on issues of social justice including human rights, freedom of expression, emerging democracies, the environment, religious affairs and global health. Mr. Sennott’s commitment to training the next generation of international correspondents resonates strongly with the Kimball Union community, as the school dedicates this year’s Global Fair to the memory of Steven Sotloff '02. Steven, who was brutally murdered by ISIS in September 2014, was working as a freelance journalist when he was captured. He was a presenter at the 2014 Global Fair. Through the creation of the Steven Sotloff ’02 Fund for Global Scholarships and Journalism, Kimball Union is dedicated to providing our students with skills and opportunities surrounding global education, journalism, inquiry and scholarship.
