A Mini-Term in Hintertux, Austria for KUA Ski Team

Before the first flurries began to fly on campus, members of our ski team embarked on a Mini-Term.  Traveling to the glacier in Hintertux, Austria, our skiers had the opportunity to train, compete, and immerse themselves in an elite ski culture.  Settling into a new culture for 4 weeks provided our students with access to an unique training ground and a global perspective not traditionally found in a high school experience.

Coached by professional athletes who have represented their countries on the International stage, at the Olympics, on the World Cup tour, and at the World Championships, this intensive program began each day at 6 am for dry land practices. Followed by a full morning on the mountain practicing technique and building strength, KUA skiers followed a professional quality training schedule. Each afternoon, our students would work in small groups with KUA tutors to keep up with all of their classes. Because of our school's 1:1 laptop program, each student was equipped with laptops to stay connected with their classmates through Skype.

Upon returning to campus, our skiers were not only physically stronger to begin the ski season, but right back in the grove of their KUA studies.  Throughout the season, our skiers have seen great success in USSA and FIS competitions, as well as in the Lakes Region and NEPSAC league races.
